Thanks for reading,
I am trying to get an Acer 56k ITU/2 modem to work on a pc300gl / p133 with W95
I can get the modem to be recognized, but device manager says there are no drivers loaded. Attempts to load the drivers have been fruitless. There seems to be some trick to getting these PC's to poll their serial ports properly.
I have disabled the port in the BIOS, and have set the IRQ and I/O range to both not available and available in the legacy settings in the BIOS, but still no go.
I have checked the IBM site, but all I could find was the tip to make the serial port "not" available.
On the same tact, the built in Ethernet card ( very nice for installing software ) seems to want to appear at both IRQ 11 and IRQ 15. I remember IBM always placing them at IRQ 15, but I can't Make the second copy go away.
Thanks all
Ray
