Modem installation on Fedora?

I have installed FC project successfuly. i have dual system (xp+FC). The modem is working fine for XP and i could not install for linux. is there any special modem for linux or how can i do it? please advice me, i just came in this field.

Regular modems - afaik most external modems, communicating with AT-commands over the serial-line, run without problems on linux.
Cripple-modems, aka winmodems, which don't talk AT themself, need an driver to work, and most manufactors don't build linux-drivers.
However, some modems have been hacked.
