Option 11 Configuration.
we would like to configure our system to dial out via modem without having to enter a "9" prior to dialing out.
There is no specific number listing that we use, therefore we cannot use a hotline list.
Is there any type of solution we could implement?

Yes, build a pretranslation table(XLST). I am assuming here that you ean you want to configure a 500 port to be used by a modem without having the need to dial out. If you look up pretranslation in your Features and Services section of your NTP's it will provide you step-by-step instructions. The table you build to execute this feature, in LD 18, will reference a speed call list you build which as 10 bins built as follows:
0 = 90
1 = 91
2 = 92
3 = 93
4 = 94
5 = 95
6 = 96
7 = 97
8 = 98
9 = 99

Where the first digit is what you dial and the digits to the right is what the switch inserts. Essential, it dials the 9 for you.

These calls will be outside of our system.. Will the pretranslation table(XLST) work for making outbound calls

Yes, the table I described above is specifically designed for a user to dial out of the system without dialing "9" from a phone with that XLST applied...unless I am misunderstanding your need.

I did the following using list 0004 which was the list i created as per your instruction.
while trying to dial out on the modem I receive a busy signal.
APS I used for testing is XXX XXXX for local or
X XXX XXX XXX for long distance.

Am I missing something?

i use the short method, ftr hot 1 9 cls mnl, making the analog a ring down to 9 does the same thing

Good idea johnpoole. That is simpler

Back to the pretranslation, It's not just a speed call list, pretranslation has to be defined in the switch, I am not where I can get to my books now though. If you have a set of NTP's, look in the features and services section under pretranslation and it will provide you the complete instructions.

That being said, johnpoole's idea seems simpler and quicker.
