HI

I HAD WORKING A MODEM US ROBOTICS OF MOTOROLA FOR REMOTE ACCESS AND I HAVE TRIED WITH OTHERS MODEMS AND I CAN DO IT THAT WORK IT .MY ASK IS IF ALL MODEMS ARE COMPATIBLES WITH NORTEL OR SOME OR I NEED SPECIAL CONFIGURATION?

THANKS

MY MODEM IS EXTERNAL AND IS CONNECT IN PORT FOR MODEM J21

If you are plugging into the cores then, set the modem for 9600bps, auto answer, dumb mode, command recognition OFF, command echo OFF (verify the modem manual how to do this).

(usualy you want to use an SDI port so when or if the Cores switch, you still have access, otherwise you would need a modem on each core if you are using J21, uless this is an option 51)

(and depending what port you use in the end, you might need a Null modem eliminator (DTE to DCE none needed, DCE TO DCE OR DTE TO DTE needs one))

any modem will work as long as uses haynes commands.. the at command set.. us robitics is the default and the quickest to set up but i've seen several brands installed.. as long as you can use either switches or at commands to follow Tritons post it will work

nortel did ship us rob with new switches when i was doing installs...

if you connect a modem to your pc, at return should get an ok at&v should show you the soft settings
