Model? on M2616

I am trying to replace a 500 type with a 2616 w/ display. I found a free TN (4_11), then copied the profile of my 2616 to it. I then changed the DES, KEY 00 & 01 to reflect ext. 107 instead of 205. After this was configured, I had our maintenance guy move ext 107 from 5_1 to 4_11, enabled the TN, then plugged the 2616 handset in the jack. Nothing will light up, but when you pick the handset up, it will give a dial tone then display MODEL? (20).

I've checked the LD 20 PRT of other 2616s against this new phone, and everything seems set correctly. The one difference is that ext 107 still has the 500 TN 5_1 tied to it, along with the 2616 4_11. Could this cause this prompt?

I have read other posts saying you can program through a 2616, and this is a prompt to do so. Does anyone have any guidelines to program through the handset?

I think your maintenance guy is on the wrong TN

IDU the TN and see if a set is connected and what model.

Your set is connected on a non configured TN. System ask you if you want to apply a model. After it will ask you for a DN and set will run

Thank you all for the quick responses, unfortunately for naught. As Douso123 said, my maintenance guy screwed up and either punched it in the wrong TN or didn't punch it clean. Regardless, I'm glad it wasn't my fault.

I have two more 500's to replace today, hopefully they'll go smoother.

the model number? question is an opt 11 saying the set is not programed.. you can answer that and get a template built on the set.. i've never used opt 11 model numbers but they are there
