mod rewrite help

Okay, I need a little help with mod rewrite.

I need to take

http://www.domain.com/sites/otherdomain.com/

and redirect it on the same server to the following path

/home/httpd/vhosts/otherdomain.com/httpdocs/

why don't you use mod_alias instead:

<VirtualHost domain.com>
# stuff
Alias /sites/otherdomain/ /home/httpd/vhosts/otherdomain.com/httpdocs/

# stuff
</VirtualHost>
(no regex to load or compile at every restart)

mod_rewrite is also constrained to your actual document root. So in this case it probably would not work well for you.
