Mod Perl and Apache::PerlRun

Hi,
Does anyone in this forum have any experience with using the Apache::perlRun module? I work on a product that is extremely processor intensive often making up to a hundred db calls just to log in a user?
It would not work under 'use strict' so I'm thinking of using PerlRun till our team has a few months to clean it up.

What, if any, speed increase can I expect from PerlRun on such a intensive application, and does using 'PerlRunOnce' really kill the speed?
