Ok, I've got an ASUS A7V133 w/ an AMD T-Bird 900MHz. This is my old mobo, and I'm trying to get it up and running in a new case. I know it works and was working fine before I upgraded my PC and put the old mobo in the new case. The problem is, I just can't find a power supply it likes
I've got one old power supply that's from a Dell. It's 230v. It works with it, but it's a POS. The fan is shot to hell and it seems to get hot pretty quickly. I don't want to use this one for good. I ran off of this one for awhile, installing W2K and making sure all of the other parts were in good working order.
So I buy another power supply, a 350v, that I test with another mobo and confirm it works. I plug it into the A7V133 .. surprise! Total silence. The mobo power light goes on, but pressing the power button does nothing. At this point I'm afraid I've just fried my old mobo, so I plug in the old POS Dell, and it still works. Repeat this scenario two more times, with a 230v and a 240v.
What the hell is with my mobo?! It's rejected 3 power supplies that I've verified work on other mobos. Is it something specific to this model, or is there really something wrong with it? Is my mobo in love with crappy old Dell power supplies? Is the case to blame?! I'm starting to get p.o.ed dragging these stupid power supplies around my basement
Any help is appreciated.
