MOBO pin description

Hi folks,
Just upgraded my casing, but the connectors for the front usb, mic & headphones ports aren't nice, standard plugs for the mobo, the wires are labelled.
On a USB socket on the mobo, what is the layout?
The casing wires are fully labelled (very nice of them) as +ve, -ve, etc, and I've located the USB socket on the mobo, what is the layout involved? If I knew that, I could connect it all up. I know you bods are just the sort of people to ask! I've tried stongarming a board layout out of packard bell, but they're customer support is non-existant. (It's basically a forum for packard bell users)
Some of the others, I've managed to figure out myself, such as the power and reset switches, but there's a few along with them that aren't that clear. Cheers for your help in advance,

That would depend on who made your MOBO and it's model. Get the manual. It will tell you (most of the time). Post more info get more help.

need motherboard model number and manufacturer..

then look it up on google or on the manufacturer's site, most will have some sort of online manual, or pictures labelling the connectors.

for example, my motherboard in my gaming machine is a soyo p4x400 dragon ultra

If I look that up on google, and go to the one on the soyo site, I can navigate around and eventually find the manual to download or view, and in it all connectors (including usb2.0 which I don't use) are labelled.

Mobo - Columbia GX
Manufacturer - Packard Bell
Manual - Does not exist!!!!

That's me problem! Packard bell don't have one. I asked, they said no. I'm assuming that a USB connection socket on a mobo has a standard layout, e.g. pin 1 +ve, pin 2 -ve, etc.

Packard bell don't even have a decent pic of the mobo. I'd rather not try to fry my mobo putting the pins in the wrong place. Thanks for the help, though guys.

Just an update folks, I got the layout of the casing socket off packard bell. If I can get the layouts for USB, Microphone and headphone now, I'm laughing.

check page 28 for usb 2.0 pin labels.. I would imagine they are layed out the same on your motherboard. pins 1-5 are the row with 4 pins and 1 "missing" pin 5 is not used 6 is below 1, and 10 is below the empty spot.

I just couldnt justify spending time setting it up with 4 usb 2.0 slots on the back of the computer. I'd rather just buy a longer cable if necessary (hasn't been so far)
