End user would be able to use a mobile phone as a WiFi SIP extension both by using the company WiFi infrastructure and outside the company, by using Public WiFi HotSpots and accessing the IPO through a public IP address.
Anyone have had experiences about ? Known problems ?

>accessing the IPO through a public IP address

bad, bad things will happen if you do this.

Don't ever expose the an IPO to the internet, without firewalls and acls and NAT.

>by using Public WiFi HotSpots

You have no idea if these Wifi hotspots will support SIP i.e. waht ports are blocked etc. Most are already NAT to a private address range.

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Thank you Matt, a part the NAT, which I assumed to apply, did you (or anybody else) have experience about that ?

i have a vpn connection to my office server on my iphone and then use media 5 fone over 3g and wifi through the vpn into my office to connect as a sip endpoint. it works well on wifi a bit bad on 3g.

That was my thought too.
You will need a vpn to the office.

BAZINGA!
