MO OUTLOOK 97 DROPPING E-MAIL ACCOUNT

I AM USING MICROSOFT OFFICE 97 WITH WINDOWS XP.
I HAVE INSTALLED MICROSOFT MAIL E-MAIL ACCOUNT USING A DIAL UP NETWORK TO CONNECT TO THE POSTOFFICE.
EVERYTIME I OPEN OUTLOOK IT DROPS THE ACCOUNT AND I NEED TO REINSTALL THE E-MAIL ACCOUNT TO SEE MY CONTACTS. ANY IDEA HOW TO KEEP THE ACCOUNT INSTALLED PERMANANTLY?

do you have a firewall of some sort on your system? norton, black ice, mcafee?
