Guys,

Anyone noticed this ...

On a couple of our servers (only checked to) I noticed some volumes taht although only 3 or so months old had a very high number of mounts reported from mminfo. I did a quick test and discovered that with each mount operation the count actually increased by 2 !!!

Now, this can't have always been the case, as some volumes had an "odd" number of mounts.

Oh, Networker ver. 7.3, Unix.

Thank in advance,

Martin

This sounds like a bug.

However, i am surprised that you even look at this parameter. Why is the number of mounts important to you at all?

Thanks for your reply.

We have a large amounts of backups/night, about 56TB, which you will understand means we have a lot of tapes.

In order to try and prevent backup/restore failure due to media issues, we swap try to swap the tapes before end of life, and for this we use no. of mounts.

Thanks for that information. It gives me an idea why customers are interested.

Anyway - let me suggest you open a bug to correct the error.
