mixing text & Numbers in Excel

Hi all is there a way of having numbers and text in a cell
so that both the number value and alphabetical value can be plotted on a graph.
I have pupils that I would like to see the value by class and by level.

Can you give us some examples of the text values and the number range, in the exact format you would have it in the cells.

Hi Ken

the graph I require would have a range from 1 1c 1b 1a 2 2c 2b 2c etc up to 8 8c 8b 8a this would be the Y axis the subject would be the X axis. Any help on this would be great. Thanks John
