mitsumi cdrom won't play audio cd's s

My thingee won't make music!!<br>

Ahem, or, rather, my cdrom drive will not play audio cd's.. <br>
<br>
I have just upgraded to windows 98. Whenever the computer tries to access the audio cd (or audio tracks on a data cd), the computer freezes for bout 20 sec. <br>
<br>
During this period, there is zero activity from the cd drive, and the computer will not respond to any commands. Although, the mouse will scroll.<br>
<br>
I have mscdex version 2.25 .<br>
<br>
Please, respond if you have any idea of what is wrong. This is an infuriating problem.<br>
<br>
I will grant the mighty fixer of my problem a small, but suitable reward.<br>

If your music CDs played fine with windows 95 than all i would suggest is to pick up a new music player from

If your music CDs did not play fine with windows 95 then i would take the top off of your computer and look to see if there is a cable connecting your sound card to your modem. If you do not have an audio cable connecting the two than you have found your problem.<br>

One of the first things I would do is to go to the website of the manufactur of your cd and see if there is a patch for windows 98. If there is none, I would then take a look to see if it is being loaded up when you start the computer up. You can do this two ways. The first way is to just look at the screen when it is loading up and the second way is to load up each command at a time by pressing F8 or F5 (cant remember at this time). You can also check to make sure the line loading your mscdex is correct.
