Our phone company is going to be requiring that we dial 10 digits even for local calls. I have set up the ARS digits dialed rules to include 8 followed by 10 digits. This does NOT work - it appears that the phone switch is automatically adding a 1 for long distance to any 10 digit number we dial. How do we turn that off?

Thanks!

nope - the 3300 only does what you tell it to. Nothing is automatic.

Make sure the digit modification table is set up the way you want it to be.

We just figured this out with the help of our Mitel support rep...it appears that our local telco is adding a 1 to our 10 digit numbers...they have been notified, and are looking into it. We checked the SMDR logs after dialing a 10 digit number that WAS LD, and getting connected - weird, and the SMDR logs showed exactly what we dialed - without the 1 - so apparently it is getting added after our 3300 somewhere.

Thanks for the response!

One thought, Are you in North America?

If so, is your PRI set to NI-2?

If so, Is the call type in the protocol set to Unknown TON?

NI-2 uses call flags to designate call types such as LD, international, Local, Etc. If the PBX sends the call with the national flag, the telco will add the 1. If the pbx sends with unknown flag, the telco will not add the 1

OK, you might be on to something here...yes, we are in Canada (near Winnipeg). Yes, our PRI is set to NI2.

Here are the settings from the PRI/QSIG Network Specific Facilities:

Controller Module: 2
Port: 1
Link Number: 9
Protocol: NI2
Protocol Variant: GTD5
Type is set to Call by Call
Fixed Network Specific Facilities is greyed out
Call by Call Network Specific Facilites:
0: DEFAULT: Par Length : GREYED OUT
1: FX: Par Length: 0
2: TIE TRUNK : Par Length: 0
3: Unb.OW: Par Length: GREYED OUT
4: BAND.OW: Par Length: 0

The rest are UNASSIGNED.

Is there something I can change there to send the "unknown flag"?

Thanks so much for your help!

In the form ISDN Protocol

Enable Unknown TON/NP - (Default = False)

That was it!! Thank you so much!!

You are a life saver - I would send you a two four if I knew where you lived :)

Glad it worked out. You might be surprised how often this comes up. I've intended to right a FAQ for it but I've never got around to it.

I should have clued in faster but I got there in the end.

Well, the company that installed our phone system should have known that...so no worried :)
