I went into my mp3's folder today and some of the files for my songs were gone. I had made a playlist in winamp and the mp3s still work on winamp so the files must be there. I've already tried and there nto hidden but can someone help me find them.

Use the search facility from the start menu, specify one of the files whose name you remember and search the whole disk. When you find it the others will probably be in the same place. Also tell it to search for hidden and system files in the advanced section just in case. Help us to help you, please post back and tell us if this helped.

All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

No sorry, it didn't find anything. THey still work in winamp so the files must still be my mp3s folder but they're just not showing up.

If you have enough space, can you try copying the whole folder elsewhere, and see if missing files appear in the copied folder.

PS. What happens if you run dir at a command prompt? Does that find them?

I tried finding them using command propt but it only shows that there are 1000 files in that folder. Which is the same number of files which come up when i select all my mp3's and go into properties. But when i right click on the folder and hit properties it shows that there are 1300 files in the folder.

Would you mind sharing. I'm sure that most of us following this thread would like to know what the problem was.

Yeah sure, I had to go into tools, folder options. In there i had to make it so it would show extensions to files, and so it would show protected operating system files then i rebooted. After that i just had turn on the option for it to show hidden files and folders. For some reason the computer still sees them as hidden files, and i can't change it otherwise but they work like normal in any event.

Very strange tha's for sure. Thanks for posting back.
