I am about to make the conversion from VB6 to VB.NET - just have not had time. I have a few books to help me and I have 2 copies of Visual Studio Professional 2003. One copy is a 60 day trial that came with SAMs 'Teach Yourself Visual Basic.net 2003 in 24 hours", the other copy is a legitimate licenced copy used by my employer. My employer is not using the copy so they agreed that I could install it on my work computer.
I installed it without incident. My problem is that all the books I have read state there should be a DATA CONTROL in the TOOLBOX. I believe there should be tabs called Data, Components and Windows Forms. The Data tab is missing.
I have tried to find information from Tek-Tips and fromthe books I have - but nothing. I thought maybe the Data tab was an installable component similar to VB6 but cannot find anything under components.
Next I tried my trial version that came with the SAMs book. This time I installed on my home computer and although the SAMs book states I should have a Data tab - I still do not get the Data tab.
Can anyone help me - I must obviously me missing something.
