Has anyone ran into the problem with text labels and db field text not aligning correctly eventhough the fields themselves are aligned in the Crystal designer. I'm using CR9 Developer, TimesNewRoman 12pt. My labels show text in the center of the control, but my db field controls seem to shift text up to the top.

Any info. is appreciated.

It's hard to tell if you are talking about horizontal or vertical alignment. I don't even think you can affect the vertical alignment of an item, if that's what you're trying to do. Otherwise, have you gone into 'format field', on the 'common' tab and changed the horizontal alignment drop down to centered?

I'll bet you are using borders around your fields

for example

2
3
------
Total 5

"Total" will not normally align when the bar at the top is a border for the total value(5)

THE TRICK to make this align properly....is to also give "Total" the same border as the total value....BUT....give this border the same colour as the report background so it is not seen. Jim Broadbent

I'm not using borders, and I am talking about vertical alignment. Here's an example: SomeLabel: dbFieldText

I align the tops of the label control and dbfield control but my text for the db field will be shifted up slightly so that the bottom of the label text will not be aligned with the bottom of the db field text. The "d" in dbFieldText will be aligned with about the middle the "l" in SomeLabel:.

I resorted to stuffing db fields into text objects but if my db field data does not fit the text object will not grow to allow all the db field data to be visible eventhough the can grow option is checked for the text object.

Maybe there is a hotFix out there for CR9 Developer that addresses this issue?

Try this... Right-click on the Design Tab (or the Subreport Tab if it's in a sub). Uncheck "Snap to Grid". Now you can fine position it until you like it - trial and error. When you're done, you can (if you want) turn "Snap to Grid" back on again.

Hope that Helps!

When I have this problem, I create a formula making it all one field:

"Labeltext: "+{data.field}

Windup-- I didn't realize the solution was so easy. Thanks for the help. Also, thanks to all others who provided input. I appreciate the response.
