How can I make a program minimize to the notification area next to the clock on the start menu?

Secondly, once I get the program to do that how do I use a keyboard command to like ctrl+shift+L to activate the program?

Any help would be appreciated.

As to the first part of your post, the area you want the program to appear in is called the system tray. You can find code to minimize an application to an icon in the system tray in this thread: thread222-573112 . This code invloves a popup menu, but you can get a general idea of how to make the program minimize and restore. Or you can do a search in this forim for "system tray" and ou will get about 90 or so hits.

And for the second part of your question, see thread222-607295.
