Whenever I get a web page from the desktop icon, the screen comes up minimised. How can I change it to come up maximised?

right click on the shortcut
Choose Properties
Choose Shortcut
Go to the dropdown menu for Run
Choose Maximized
Close and retry your shortcut, this should fix the problem

Thanks PCTBird.
I tried that. Got into properties but there are only two tabs:- General and Web Document. It defaulted to the latter which shows:

Qbasic News Forums - View Forum
URL: (the web address)
Shortcut Key: None
Visits: Unknown

There does not seem anything applicable on the General tab.
I cannot find a dropdown menu for Run.

If it helps I'm running Windows 98 and Internet Explorer.

pebe, the icon your right clicking on is a shortcut to a certain webpage. What PCTbird posted applies to a shortcut for internet explorer.

Thanks to you both.
There was no shortcut icon for Internet Explorer on the desktop so I made one and got it to come up maximised OK, as you suggested. But I still cannot get a maximised screen from a web icon, as default. I have right clicked on just about everything and still cannot see a way of dooing it.

pebe,

When the windows opens, drag the borders, top, right, bottom, and left to the size you want (almost filling the entire screen). DO NOT use the maximize button.

Now choose File>Close, DO NOT use the X in the top right corner. Go back to the page you just opened the new one from, choose View>Refresh and now click the link again, it should open to the size that you just closed it from.

That's fixed it.
