Hi all,

I'm migrating our 5.5 box to a new 2k server. I've installed ADC and setup connection agreements for replication and created a test mailbox on the 2k server to receive mail. This new user can receive mail from anyone (internal or external) but can only reply to external addresses. If you reply or send a mail to an internal user you get an NDR saying "The e-mail address could not be found. Perhaps the recipient moved to a different e-mail organization". Not very helpful! :(

Looking at the 2k box, it's Address Lists are empty, even tho it can see the recipients still located on the 5.5 box.

Can anyone help with this...?

I had this problem as well, you get an NDR with the X.400 address in there. And it is only with replying to addresses before you moved them. I resolved the issue like this.

1) Created an X.400 connnector from the exchange 2000 box to the old 5.5 server.
2) Recreate the old mailbox, making sure it has the original x.400 address.
3) Set the delivery options to forward messages to the new mailbox.
4) Hide from address book.

You will be maintaining two mailboxes for everyone that moves for awhile. This will give you time to update offline address books, contacts, and educate your users. Over the next weeks you can educate your users, also you can monitor the mailboxes (using the admin tool). When the volume decreases to an acceptable level, delete the hidden mailboxes and handle the NDRs on a case by case basis.

New messages will have new reply-to addresses and over time the old addresses will ceased to be used.

Hope this helps
