I have read through a lot of the literature. The only way that I can see to do this is to run a Password Export Server as part of the Active Directory Migration tool.
Am I right?
All other migration tools seem to assign a new password to the windows account. I need the passwords to come with the accounts, or Monday will be a painful day...
The password migration utility with ADMT works. It takes a bit to get it set up. You'll need a trust between NT and 2K3, permissions in both domains, and to install the pasword migration dll in the NT domain. Name resolution, both DNS and WINS, needs to work both directoions.
Once it's all set up, it's a very straight forward process to migrate the passwords.
AD Migration tool setup and working...I can migrate accounts and a host of other settings. It's actually a neat app.
I'm still not getting passwords though. The encryption keys are working/valid, and the accounts come through, but without the previous password. I'm not sure what password comes through...
In the white papers, it talks about checking the ADU&C for the PES object and setting permissions. I have no PES object in my AD!
