I had to build a new DC and was wondering if I could migrate user accounts from old DC to the new one. The new DC is in a new domain (forest). I had to do this because the install of w2000 was hosed. I do not feel like recreating all users & permissions manually. Can this be done?

There is a free tool available on Microsoft's webpage called the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT). It will (among other things) migrate your groups, users, and computer accounts. The only snag is it can't migrate passwords, and will either assign each user the same password as their user name, or will generate random complex passwords and put them in a text file for you.
