We are upgrading our Exchange 2003 environment from the current server to a newer, more beafed up server. What steps or precautions need to be taken to make this a smooth transition from one server to another? Thanks!

From 2k3 to 2k3?

Backup backup backup! And try a restore of a couple of test accounts like people who leave from now until migration.

Build new server, move mailboxes, reconfigure client connections. Sounds so easy when you say it like that!!!!

Yes, it is just Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2003. The old server is a few years old and starting to show signs of strain, so we are just updating to a new, more powerful server.

Is there anything on the web like a guideline or walkthrough or something for changing from one server to another?

And yeah, always easier said than done.

Thanks for the information 58sniper. Hopefully this will be helpful in me endevor to produce a more stable environment. Thanks again!
