Hi,

I have a Exchange 2000 Standard server. Now i like to migrate it to Exchange 2003. But, i want to run the new exchange 2003 on a new server. What is the best thing to do?

1. upgrade 2000 to 2003 and then install 2003 on the new server. replicate the database and remove the old server.

2. Install 2003 next to 2000. replicate the database and remove the 2000 exhange server.

Does anyone know if it's possible to run a Exchange 2003 server together with a Exchange 2003 server in the same domain with the same userdatabase?

I hope option 2 is possible cause it can make a huge difference in time to migrate.

Option 2 should be ok.

If you already have XC2000 the only option you will really get is to add the XC2003 to existing organisation.

You should then be able to move mailboxes etc. then update MX records for incoming SMTP and remove old server.

Ok, Thanx.. this will help i think. Microsoft is only talking about migrations from XC5.5 to 2003 or upgrade 2000 to 2003. So i didn't had the nerves to just try it.
