Migrate & Decomission Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003

Can anyone advise from their own experience an easy methodology to execute the above subject..
The key areas are not so much migrating Users, is the Internet Mail (which the 5.5 Box does) switching over without Users moaning that are not receiving External Mail..
Finally the Decomissioning of the 5.5 Exchange Server, removing successfully without the Exchange 2003 Server collapsing.. or moaning ..
Is it really the case of removing ADC first, followed by what..?
