It's been quite a while since I've upgraded a MICS, so my question is this; I have a customer that currently has a DR6.0 release mics and wants to upgrade the software. I have a DR7.0 that I pulled off a system a while back that I upgraded to XC7. Do I need the upgrade tool for DR6 to DR7, and should there be any issues with me using software that I pulled out from a different system (ie programming)? Thanks!

So, going from 6.0 to 7.0 won't work? I need the 6.1 in between?

Thanks again!

Thanks curlycord. Should I use the upgrade tool from 6 to 7?

So I'm thinking now that I may just upgrade them from the 6.0 to the 6.1 and use their existing NVRAM cartridge. Therefore, I can back up the programming and if something gets lost, I can restore without an issue. Any thoughts?

Wouldn't I be able to restore to the 6.1? I'm not changing the NVRAM cartridge, and if I'm not mistaken, that's where the programming is held. I'm hoping it doesn't come down to this, as I'm assuming the upgrade should go alright.

You cannot back up one software and restore to another software.
NVRAM should be Rls 2 btw
Programming is on the KSU.

Did you read the Upgrade procedure yet in the Install Guide?.

Curlycord, I read the manual and it's saying that going from 6.0 to 6.1 only requires new software card. It sounds like it's safe for me to use the existing NVRAM that is in place.

Curlycord and Exsmogger, thank you for all of your advice. You have both been great.

Ok, I upgraded from a 6.0 to 6.1 today and everything went fairly smooth. Customer just called and said the phones that have the busy lamp field modules on them are having issues. It appears as though the BLF mod's are blinking. They disconnect them and reconnect them and they work for about 15 minutes and start blinking again. These are compatible with the 6.1 aren't they?

They should be compatible. What is your version of 6.1? I forgot to mention that the MR (maintenance release) version of 6.1 fixed all the bugs in the earlier versions of 6.1. In Maintenance the system version should display as 30CQG05 or 30CQG10 if it's the MR version of 6.1.

In order for BLF to work on 6.1 the the phone must Rls 16 or greater.
Hopefully not too many have BLF's, in this case look under all sets and start swapping Rls 16's for those with BLF.
