I have just upraded to 4.1 release 30ndg15. I have installed pri key code. I installed the t1 card. Under the hardware options I set up card 1 as pri and settings to work with telco. In maintenece I have the moduel showing as unequipped. I try to dissable then enable it still shows unequipt. I have even power cycled the sytem and held the reset button on T1 card. The card has 1 green light that just blinks. My question is, is this a bad card or could i check anything else before ordeering a new one? I dont have a spare and cards are not cheap.

slot 1. the far right slot in main unit there is a lsds trunk card in slot 2 and in maintenence i see that card.just dont see the t1 card.

did you do it like this:
(this is from Mroberts, not me)
Just sub PRI for T-1

did you go into maintenance, disable the card, then go into hardware, program the card, then re-enable the card? The following is the basic programming for a T-1

You must have either a Services Cartridge (slot 1) or a 6-port Combo card (slot 2) in order to provide clocking for the T-1. Only one of these is needed, even if you have two DTI cards.
The DTI card should go into Slot 4 first. If you have a second card it would go into Slot 3.
You must disable the card first, program the card for T1, then re-enable the card.

To Disable / Enable Card
From Terminals & Sets – Next until you get to Maintenance – Show
Next until get to Module Status – Show
Show module – Next
KSU (1): Next or State if using (2) cards
KSU (2): State
( ) Ports Busy – Press Disable or Enable
Disable at Once? – Yes

Protocols & Signaling
Hardware – Show
Show Module – Next
Cards on KSU – Show
Cd1 – KSU: Change to T-1 – Show
Card Type T-1 – Next
Lines: 001-024 – Next
Protocol: SL1 – Next (check with your Telco Carrier for setting)
Type Slave – Next
Bchanseq: Ascend or Descend – Next (check with your Telco Carrier for setting)
CO Fail: TIA–547A – Next
IF Levels: ISDN – Next
Framing: ESF – Next (usually ESF, check with your Carrier
Internal CSU: ON – Next
{need to have either an external CSU or turn the internal one on. If customer needs to use some channels for data then they’ll need a CSU/DSU to split off channels before the 0X32. OR to split off data channels after 0X32 they’ll need a Nortel Data Interface (NDI) plus bandwidth allocation key codes}
DSX1 Bld: 000-100
Line Coding: B8ZS (usually B8ZS, check with the Carrier)
ClockSrc: Primary (second card would be secondary)

Re-enable the card in Maintenance now.

I did all of the above. The clocking I question. I have 2 6 port fiber cards in slot 1+2. My t1 card is in slot 4(far right) my lsds is in slot 3. When i look at cards on system it only sees the trunk card.

You must have a clocking card. If you need two 6 port expansion cards one will have to be a combo card(clocking & expansion) You must also have XC s/w if you are going to use all the expansion ports. I think the regular s/w will allow 6 expansions, after that you must have XC.
I think your cards are ok, from right to left: T1 card, T1 card, combo or clock card, second expansion card. I hope this helps.

Thanks alot! I bet the card is not a clocking card, will check today!

That was it. Its been a while since ive put a t1 on a norstar. I've been doing alot of bcm's these days where all these steps are not needed.

Can you access a Norstar MICS with a laptop? I check the installation/programmming manuals and it only indicates how to program the system through the phone.

st101, YES, but you need a RAD (remote access device)and Norstar Remote Utilies software to make it happen.
