I have a customer not willing to part with their MICS 3.0XC. I want to put in a T1 E&M card in the 0x32 for DID/outbound service.

Can I do that? They already have analog DID trunks which would be removed.

You can but........... 3.0 XC just barely meets the minimum requirements for T1. I know your customer is looking at cost more than anything else. Unfortuneatly 3.0 thru 6.0 have had problems with "Hung lines" which is the bigest problem with DID's in Disconnect Supervision without upgrading to at least 6.1
Alot too depends on your CO/dial tone provider.

Wish you could talk them into maybe a Fractional PRI and go with a refirbed DT1 and Combo card, and 6.1 It might save them money in the long run and you going postal on the MICS.

MICS 3.0 WI 5.10 & MICS 3.0 WI 5.11 should have correctd the T1.

In some installations of Norstar systems with MICS 3.0 software (XC and non XC), the customer may experience a system reset. This condition was seen only on systems that used TI E&M auto answer trunks with high traffic. In this scenario, the high traffic on the T1 E&M auto answer trunks caused software resources to be used up causing the system to reset.
With MICS 3.0 WI 5.10, the resources associated with the T1 E&M auto answer are reallocated preventing the system from resetting.

this is a very low traffic office. i had a 4.1 ksu with t1 e&m lock up channels but that was a fairly high traffic site. none of the trunks were auto-answer ever. i have a 6.1ksu available, we'll see what we can do.

thanks.

i am going to use this one like a PRI for DID calls, T1 E&M with 4 rec'd digits. only about 10-15 users.

thanks!

Hence its name ... R1T1

Check that the carrier still provides T1's and not just PRI.

If low traffic and only 15 users why even speak of T1 or PRI?
Whats is wrong with current setup?

the cableco offers a bundle of super high speed internet with a T1 and DIDs. all over a cable tv cable. The price is super competitive and the customer wants it. most likely they are going to save a few hundred a month!

i believe if I upgrade the KSU, I might have to upgrade the flash vm, which if I recall is 1.9 or 1.44.

i'm throwing my hands up saying, why not upgrade? but they want to keep their system.

I would make sure the new T1 is not a PRI that would mean Key Code for PRI. You still will need a Service Card or a Combo for the clocking.
