You can but........... 3.0 XC just barely meets the minimum requirements for T1. I know your customer is looking at cost more than anything else. Unfortuneatly 3.0 thru 6.0 have had problems with "Hung lines" which is the bigest problem with DID's in Disconnect Supervision without upgrading to at least 6.1
Alot too depends on your CO/dial tone provider.
Wish you could talk them into maybe a Fractional PRI and go with a refirbed DT1 and Combo card, and 6.1 It might save them money in the long run and you going postal on the MICS.
MICS 3.0 WI 5.10 & MICS 3.0 WI 5.11 should have correctd the T1.
In some installations of Norstar systems with MICS 3.0 software (XC and non XC), the customer may experience a system reset. This condition was seen only on systems that used TI E&M auto answer trunks with high traffic. In this scenario, the high traffic on the T1 E&M auto answer trunks caused software resources to be used up causing the system to reset.
With MICS 3.0 WI 5.10, the resources associated with the T1 E&M auto answer are reallocated preventing the system from resetting.
this is a very low traffic office. i had a 4.1 ksu with t1 e&m lock up channels but that was a fairly high traffic site. none of the trunks were auto-answer ever. i have a 6.1ksu available, we'll see what we can do.
The first T1 I installed on a Norstar was back in the 90's when I was working at Atlantel. Our MICS had R1.1 software and a plain old T1 circuit worked fine. R3.0 should be good.
the cableco offers a bundle of super high speed internet with a T1 and DIDs. all over a cable tv cable. The price is super competitive and the customer wants it. most likely they are going to save a few hundred a month!
i believe if I upgrade the KSU, I might have to upgrade the flash vm, which if I recall is 1.9 or 1.44.
i'm throwing my hands up saying, why not upgrade? but they want to keep their system.
