Microsoft Works Suite

Following a recent crash of sorts I had to re-install Works and Word 2000, I installed Works fine but received this message when choosing Word:

'This patch package could not be opened. Verify the patch package exists and that you can access it or check with vendor if this is valid window installer patch package'

Which of course it is. I have downloaded various patches/updates over the years, could this be a cause ?

Check with the vendor - it's their responsability if software they sold you doesn't work.

now why did I not think of that ! perhaps because the vendor has gone out of business.

Then talk to Microsoft. But understand, people on this forum aren't willing to give out information that would be useful for software piracy. It doesn't matter whether the original questioner intended such a thing, since anyone can read a thread and pick up tips.
