Hi,
Hopefully someone has an answer... On the Microsoft Office Programs Toolbar (which opens Word, Excel, etc by a single click on the icon), I have a user that wants to double-click to open the program. Unfortunately, when he double-clicks it opens two occurrences of the program. Does anyone know how to change the properties to allow for double-clicks?

I'm not trying to sound rude, but cant you just tell your user to click once? I think you might be puting more work into this than necessary. I guess I dont know of anyway to change the properties to be double-click, but couldn't you just put shortcuts on the Desktop? And after you install office, once you click run i think it puts an icon/shortcut on the start menu to open M$ Office Documents by default. Otherwise you could just use the quick Launch area of ur taskbar for that if you maybe want to save some room on ur screen. I dont know I guess, just seems like a lot of extra time to figure something like that out.

Anyway, hope this gives you an idea or two if there isn't a way to change the properties of the toolbar.

Under the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Officexx there should be a folder \Toolbars\Office

drag and drop those shortcuts to the menu. They will require a double click to open.

I have to agree with 00071491 on this one.

Honestly, as a stupid example, what are you going to do when someone asks you something similar stupid as 'I want to click 3 times?

The toolbar is made to click once, why is it that some people always need to do thing different the they were designed.

Get rid of the toolbar, put shortcuts on the Desktop, so he can double-click.

I merely wanted to know if it was an option that was easily set, just as there's an option to double or single-click a folder. The user can use a single-click.

The Microsoft Office shortcuts are not "normal", and their click behavior is not adjustable. These shortcuts are vry different from a "normal" Windows XP shortcut.

I should note the "why" as to why they are different.

Whether you choose to display the office tool bar or not, it is there in memory.

The MS Office shortcuts, as published, reference not a physical hard disk location (as do "normal" shortcuts) but a call to a memory resident toolbar.

Hence, the target field appears 'grey' when viewed on their properties sheet.
