I don't know if I'm in the correct forum, but I am very confused by .NET 1.1, firstly I don't know much about it other than a program I have needs it to run.

Secondly, ever since I installed it, my computer does not directly boot up into XP, instead it goes to the welcome screen where I have to click on my account to get into XP. Not only that, when my computer sits idle or the screensaver goes on I come back to find myself logged out again.

This is really frustrating, is there a place I can change these settings? I want it back to how it was before, the only way I can do that is uninstall .NET but then my program will no longer funtion. [pc3]

You can set those options in the Windows control panel: Start | Settings | Control Panel

The .NET framework, as you have found out is simply used to run some programs. To quote Microsoft:
Microsoft said:
The .NET Framework is the programming model of the .NET platform for building, deploying, and running XML Web services and applications. It provides a highly productive, standards-based environment for integrating existing investments with next-generation applications and services and the agility to solve the challenges of deployment and operation of Internet-scale applications. The .NET Framework consists of two main parts, the common language runtime and a unified set of class libraries, including ASP.NET for Web applications and XML Web services, Windows Forms for smart client applications, and ADO.NET for loosely-coupled data access.

I would be surprised if all of the changes on your PC were down to the installation of the .NET Framework but as chiph points out you can change all of these settings in the Control Panel.

To disable the Welcome Screen go to:
User accounts | Change the way users log on or off | Use the welcome screen
and deselect the checkbox.
