In the past year I've never experienced a Mouse Freeze. I reformatted and reinstalled Win XP due to several issues. I'm now experiencing a mouse freeze that is Intermittent. It was happening before I installed SP1a and after. I don't remember if it was freezing before I installed ZoneAlarm Pro 4.5.
Some of the Event Warnings and Errors I've been experiencing. svchost timeout and fail to start after 30000 milliseconds.
Error detected on device \Device\CdRom(0) during a paging opperation. I had about one thousand of these in a row about 100 per second. This error appears to have cleared up.
Event ID 54: PS\2 Pointing device timed out. I then plugged the mouse into a USB port it cleared up the Timed out error But I still get intermitant freezing. While on PS\2 the timed out error would never recover and I would have to reboot.
I don't think the problem is in the mouse driver or software, as I've removed from devices and tried with and without reinstalling the drivers and software from Intellipoint. Some of the things that are different with this Win XP reinstall from prior ones. I've updated the ABIT BIOS to CX updated the USB filter to 1.10 updated the VIA 4 in 1 to v/4.51 added the RAID performance Patch.

Thanks for any help you may provide.
Clare

Check for viruses and make sure you have xp patched to the latest level. Then do a hardware diagnostic and check the ram. If the xp install is recent I would boot to dos or linux and see if the system is stable without xp running.
