Shot in the dark -- hopefully someone wise will see this. We're on the second stage of our rollout and our hardware vendor is unable to provide the model of PC that we were rolling out during the first phase of the rollout. He's provided us the "closest match" but in reality it's not all that close. We've gotten it to work with the ghost image we've been using but now for some reason, two major issues have arisen:

1) Symantec Antivirus is blocking Ops from starting. This makes sense as the Realtime Virus Scanning can impair the database. This has been disabled entirely and is a non-issue.

2) This is the big one. Periodically, when stores get busy, Ops will randomly drop the database connection. This affects WS4s, PCWSs, and the office PC. The bar will come back trying to reload Ops, fill up, and start over. This is bad.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What version of 3700 are you using?

The first thing I'd do is go into the BIOS settings on the server and make sure that hyperthreading is turned off. This can this causes all kinds of freaky problems with Res3.2 and probably 4.0.

You might want to turn up the logging verbosity on OPS too. It won't help the problem, but it should give the support crowd more to go on.

Thanks for your help, we are running 3.2 and have hyperthreading off. I believe we found the source of the problem. It appears to actually be a RAM incompatibility combined with .NET corruption (clobbering manager procedures). Credit goes to the boss for ordering incompatible RAM. Thanks for your reply.
