I am having problems with the sound card built onto the motherbaord.

It is a Micro-star a5182ms board.

For some reason every time i try and install a driver it works fine until you try playing an audio CD or go into the multimedia section of the control panel. When you choose the driver tab and then expand the audio device tab and then cancel the box the system hangs. It also happens with some games. This i assume is trying to access the CD-DVD drive.

Sounds like a bad card or IRQ conflict. I would shut it off, and put in a PCI or ISA card. Or if you cannot do that, replace the motherboard. If it isn't the card, then check your IRQ settings to make sure there are no conflicts.
