Hello,
I'm intending to add new servers to the Citrix farm. The existing servers are NT4 TSE but the new servers will be Windows 2000 SP3. I plan to upgrade the existing servers(i.e. the NT4 ones)nto Windows 2000 once I have the new servers up and running and not before. However the time period of the 'mixed environment' should only be a month or two.
The only published application is the desktop.
My question is, are there any issues in doing this, for example will there be any problems with profiles or the published desktop?

Many Thanks

We just finished a conversion to Metaframe XP that's pretty similar to yours (we only publish 1 desktop). We had a lot of issues with profiles and other things such as folder redirection policies and file locations. In the end here's what we did:
Created a new farm with Win2000 - Metaframe XP and rolled the licenses up from our existing NT-Metframe 1.8 farm. Created a new profile share for roaming profiles on our file server (updated the change in the User AD account). We kept both farms running side-by-side. As we moved users over from 1.8, we gave them new profiles in for 2000 and via policy disallowed them to log back into the 1.8 farm. As we moved users over to the new XP farm, we took out one by one a 1.8 box to either upgrade or do what with.

Thanks for the response.
What was the nature of the problems you experienced?

Also, how difficult a job was it to migrate your users from one farm to the other. Did you have to visit all PC's / Thin Clients?

You will not have any problems if you use Metaframe 1.8 on the new 2000 servers. We ran 35+ mixed NT4 (sp4 & sp6) with W2K (SP2 & SP3) servers , with over 50 published Apps & Desktops, for over 3 years now.

Going to Metaframe XP is fine as well if you upgrade the NT4's to Metaframe XP; otherwise you will be having fun with the published apps.
