Messenger Service Popups 4

Hi, Anyone know how to get rid of those annoying pop windows from Microsoft Messenger service that pop up no matter what you are in middle of doing??? Then I get another one of those messages saying that the only way to get rid of them is to go to

http://www.fightpopups.com

and enlist their services.. I thought it was just a setting on my computer. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have a look at the Messenger service in Services. Check out any Depencies it might have before you stop and disable it.

Messenger transmits net send and Alerter service messages between clients and servers. This service is not related to Windows Messenger. If this service is stopped, Alerter messages will not be transmitted. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
