We recently ran Windows Updates on the W2K Pro workstations at one of our client's business and one the workstations started having an error regarding Outlook Express imediately after the updates.
When the user opens Outlook Express, he can see messages incrementing up in his Inbox. He then clicks on his Inbox to view the messages and there are no messages and the blue (number) next to the Inbox on the left disappears. He cannot send mail either.
We have recreated his Identity and it will work properly until the next restart.
Outlook works fine but the user is insisting on Outlook Express.
We have tried re-running the updates.
We have tried re-installing IE and OLE using the installation option to force new files to come down and be installed.
We considered removing the Windows Updates but descided not to because this pc is on a LAN with many other machines and we want to keep the Windows Updates up to date for obvious reasons.
I have searched in this forum (I do see someone else with a similar question but no responses yet.)
I have Googled it.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Sincerely,
Steve
