I have a third party application (AVST) that uses the feature codes to turn on and off the message waiting lights on sets thru DSE (Digital Set Emulation). The problem is they have never really worked. I can trace the stations to see they are dialing the correct codes, but no lights turn on for the phones. I wanted to test it, so I set up my set to allow me to do this (LWC ACTIVATION = Y). Now when I dial the same FAC that should turn a light on another phone, I get a busy signal. The FAC is *4, so I dial *42106. I do not get a confirmation tone, nor does the light come on. Any ideas on what else I can check? I have verified the FAC as well as the restrictions for the phones, both mine and the sets being used by the messaging system. I am on Version 2.1.

Thanks in advance,

Scott M.

Do U have "LWC Reception? msa-spe" and "LWC Activation? y"on the stations?
LWC cannot be activated toward a phone that has Call Forwarding
activated. If LWC was activated before the called phone user activated Call
Forwarding, the callback call attempt is redirected to the forwarded-to
party.
Don't use lwc in a hospitality envirnoment.

That field has SPE in it, and all sets are Y for activiation. When I check for help, I only get Audix, SPE and None as options for LWC Reception. Is this a feature that is required? Our vendor mentioned this field last night, but also said SPE would work if MSA-SPE was not an options.

Any truth to that?

Thanks

Is mode code intergration stroked YES on the 'display system cust"?
I think that it has to be.
Do U have an Intuity for voice mail?
Why is the 3rd party application turning on message lights?

P.S. For the best response to a question, read FAQ222-2244. Also give the type & version of your voice mail & pbx & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Please answer all questions so that I may have the info to assist you. Leaving a post on how you fixed the problem will also be appreciated.

I assume you mean this options:
Code:
Mode Code for Centralized Voice Mail? n

We are using Call Express, which is an AVST product. It is using the Digital Set Emulation to turn the lights off and on, as well as take the voice messages. In it a unified messaging app that also hooks into Exchange.

Is this something I can change? I tried to do a "change sys cust", and I got no response.

Thanks for mentioning this, I will see where this leads

Is the AVST a Version 2.1?
What version of PBX is it?
AVaya or a partner has to dial in to change anything on the customer options page. THey also charge for it.

If you want to find out if it will work and get if running U could call into Avaya at the Technical Service Center. If someone won't help you ask to talk to someone else. There are dumb people there and there are brilliant people. It is like a box of chocholates. They will charge you at least $130 for a half hour minimum, and U may have to pay that only to find out that U can't do it for some reason. But don't take that for an answer if someone doesn't ask you a lot of questions.

The AVST product is Call Express, and it is version 7.7. The Avaya is a G3 Version 2.1.

Thanks for the feedback. What exactly does this feature/option do? I tried looking in the feature admin guide, as well as on line, and found very little to explain what this is for.

Features are things that have to be paid for, or at least the extra ones are. U give Avaya money, and they turn on things that give your system more capabilities.
I don't think U have a 2.1. Do newterm or disp system soft and it will tell you what version your system is. If you indeed have a 2.1 then you are running a system from the dark ages without hardware or software support. It uses tapes for backup that were running on borrowed time over 5 years ago.

Now I know I am new to Avaya, but I believe this is where I get my software release:
Code:
 CURRENT SYSTEM INFORMATION

            Software Load: R012i.01.1.414.1
     Memory Configuration: G3siV12
           Offer Category: A

  LAST TRANSLATION LOADED INFORMATION

            Software Load: R012i.01.1.414.1
     Memory Configuration: G3si(medium)
           Offer Category: A

And if I rememeber how my vendor told me to read this, the version of software load is R012, in which I drop the first two numbers, making it R2, then a dot, then 01.

I read this as 2.1, so please let me know if that is not the case. I will totally claim ignorance here if I have been lead astray.

Thanks
