I am using Norton MICS and Call Pilot 100.

I have one office room with one phone box (Nortel T7208)and two workers who share that office: one in morning shift and one in afternoon shift. Currently, a private "guest mailbox" is setup for each worker. The problem is that message waiting indicator light does not work with guest mailboxes.

Without wiring an additional line into the office, is there any setup that would allow these workers to visually see the message waiting indicator light while sharing one phone set but having two seperate voicemail accounts.

I read the manaul and it mentions Alternate Extensions work with message waiting indicator light but I did not understand how it works. I would appreciate your help on this.

Adam

Alternate Extension is two phones sharing one mailbox. You are looking for one phone sharing two mailboxes.

it can be done by setting the external notification of each mailbox to call the extension when a voice mail is left.

Marv;

You said "it can be done by setting the external notification of each mailbox to call the extension when a voice mail is left". Would you please elaporate this statement. You are giving me hope where i had none. Thank you in advance

So Marv, let me see if I understand this
1 Create mbox 222 for ext. 222
2 Create mbox 223 no ext.-turn on notification and set time to call 222
When msg is left for 222 msg. for you in display
When msg for mbox 223 ext. 222 is called and when answered prompt says msg for 223
Is this correct or does the thread only apply to 221 and 100??
If not what happens when call is not answered at 222 for mbox 223 and how does the caller get routed to mbox 223 if not transferred by receptionist???

1 Create mbox 222 for ext. 222
2 Create mbox 223 no ext.-turn on notification and set time to call 222
When msg is left for 222 msg. for you in display
When msg for mbox 223 ext. 222 is called and when answered prompt says msg for 223

This correct
For this to work do not set CFNA/CFB on ext 222

So now you have 4 possible scenerios
Calls from reception to 222 transfer to 222 recall to reception and are then manual transfered to MB 222 using F980
Calls to ext 222 from AAl let transfer recall return the call to voice mail.
Calls to 223 from AA go to mailbox 223 directly
Calls for 223 from reception must be transferred to 222 then recall to reception if no answer and then manually transfered to MB 223 via F980

VM will call ext 223 however many times you decide in the set up.

Just curious. Wouldn't you F986 to Mbox???
Calls to ext. 222 transfer from recept. no ans. return to recept. transfer to Mbox 222. ok
Calls to ext. 222 from AA return to AA> what happens to call???
Calls to 223 from AA cannot be routed if 223 is Mbox
Calls for 223 from recept transferred to ext.222 then recall to reception if no ans. and transferred to Mbox 223. ok < what happens to call for Mbox 223 if no ans. at ext. 222???
How do you program VM to call ext. 222 for however many times in setup???
Just seems a little flawed to me.

Spice it up and add an Answer DN key for DN 223 onto DN 222.
Then:
2 Create mbox 223 ext 223.-turn on notification and set time to call 223

This will ring in on the Answer key

Has anyone ever implemented this 1 Ext. 2 Mbox application or is this just theory?? LOL Curlycord, you might be onto something there, but will Answer DN work w/o a physical ext.

You're right I get them mixed up all the time

Calls to ext. 222 from AA return to AA> what happens to call???
If there is a MB it will land there otherwise it will go to GDMB

Calls to 223 from AA cannot be routed if 223 is Mbox
Calls for 223 from recept transferred to ext.222 then recall to reception if no ans. and transferred to Mbox 223. ok < what happens to call for Mbox 223 if no ans. at ext. 222???
All manually transfered calls return to originator (CFNA/CFB is not set

How do you program VM to call ext. 222 for however many times in setup???
Message notification can be set to repeat if no answer

Curly:
Spice it up and add an Answer DN key for DN 223 onto DN 222.
Then:
2 Create mbox 223 ext 223.-turn on notification and set time to call 223

This will ring in on the Answer key

This is hit and miss. Sometimes it works sometimes not.

Marv

I dont know of any issues but as long as a DN has a place to ring it should work.
When you do something like this always tag the port to not use it and notes so the next tech know not to mess with it and why.
