MerMail vs Call Pilot 1

Hi to all, question here: in MerMail you could enter someone's name in a directory which would be used for "dial by name" when they did not have a mail box. Does a similar option exist in CallPilot? Thanks

Methinks.. YES.
We use 'CallPilot'. If I go to 'User Details' for a given mailbox, then scroll down to 'Setup', there IS a field = 'NAME DIALABLE BY EXTERNAL CALLERS'.

I don't see an option for internal. Our co' doesn't use this feature, so I don't know the ins/outs of it.

Thanks, I know about this but I am talking about a user without a mail box. MerMail had the option to add a user and extension so it would be found with dial by name, even though the user did not have a mail box. Just can't find the equivalent in CP!

another tip, when you buy call pilot, get the migration tape. it moves the users and there saved msgs and there passwords.. it does not move the applications, menus etc but it does move the recorded msgs for those apps... application builder is used for that and it is a gui interface that is faster and cleaner the mermail.. after you learn it, one hour hands on and your a pro with that one.. all most all drag and drop, prop tabs..clean.. i hate change (i'm old) but cp is worth the $

In CP, how do you add a user that will be found with dial by name even if he does not have a mail box??

just add the mailbox but don't forward the station to mail. i don't know of another way, you can block msgs to the mail box so that express mail can not be used.

Add the user as a Directory entry instead of a mailbox.
