MerMail 13.13 no passwords, no install tape 1

Hi all,

I may get scorned for this, but is there any possible way to get the admin/tools passwords reset without an install tape. The tape has gone missing and somehow, nobody knows the password, even the current provider!

I have tried all the default passwords (even customer and auxadmin!)

Is Nortel still able to reset the pwds?

Yes until it goes MD later this year they should be able to do this but it will cost you.

To my knowledge, Rls 13 requires the tape. But I think any same-version tape will work.

Through Rls 12, there is a super secret "lost password" password

they have gts and etas level passwords that will allow them to reset the passwords for you. Just going to cost you the ETAS case.

If you have a service provider they might know them, and not need to call ETAS, but they will probably charge you as well.

I thought it was MD already. On Nortel.com it has the little MD symbol next to it!

I am pretty sure Rls 13 does not have a backdoor password that allows you to change or view the login password. I think Nortel is stuck using the tape too. Just like the newer PBXs - you need the install media before you can recover a password

You should be able to get a tape from somewhere. Surely your vendor (although they don't know the password) can obtain a tape from their inventory or at least borrow one from one of their other customers. There are still a lot of MM13 systems in production out there.
