Can someone please advise the program used to access current Merlin Messaging remotely? I know you cannot access Vmail functionality thru WinSPM like you can in the Norstar world; not familiar with RAS access. Thanks in advance..

What version of Merlin Messaging? Depending on the Release version, Merlin Messaging can be accessed and administered remotely via a LAN connection at the customer site - so you have to be able to access that network remotely, have the correct version of the LAN admin software, and have the messaging module set-up and correctly connected to the customer's LAN. Magix messaging cannot be administered over a modem.

tdaugirdas,

So at no point was Merlin Messaging ever accessable over a modem connection?

I am assumming the version is either latest or the one prior to that. Either way, sounds like the modem is not the answer.

You can access Merlin Messaging over a modem - but only to do some tasks, like view the "critical event" log, setup the LAN IP address, etc. - it's more for a tech's use. Administration, at least for Merlin Messaging Releases 2.0 and greater were setup to be done over the LAN using a windows GUI program - that was specific to each release. The administration software is not backwards or forwards compatible. Only the most recent versions of the software are available on the Avaya web-site.

What are you trying to administer? You should be able to dial in, issue *7, 0#, [password], 9 and be the administrator for the VM system for many tasks, i.e. add a mailbox, delete a mailbox, reset a mailbox password, etc.
