I have a Merlin Messaging R 2.5 that is beginning to say that the caller cannot leave messages because the system is full. I've looked at the mailbox capacities using the modem connection, but there are only a handful of mailboxes, none of which contain much.
Question is: How can you tell the used capacity, or remaining capacity of the system?
Me thinx duh system be sik.

I agree that your system may be ailing. There is no way I know of to check current message usage, capacity - maybe some of the reports available under the RS232 login could provide some clues. If you login as "tech1000" you can also look at the voicemail error log for some additional clues.
I would delete all mailboxes and recreate them - and see if that helps. If not I would reinitialize the drive and reprogram. The nice thing about the R2.5 is that you can back up and restore the entire voicemail to a PC - including recorded announcements, menu's, etc. If there are still problems - then perhaps a new hard drive with a fresh software load would be in order.

Never tried the RS-232 with the tech1000. Is the password the same as the sysadmin?

Password is the same - you do get a few more reports - that may show something - like errors in the mailboxes - for example. But, my guess is that you will have to try the steps outlined earlier, i.e., remove all of the mailboxes and recreate them - and, as a last resort reinitialize and reprogram.

I've seen this a couple of times when the drive in the messaging is failing. Be sure to back it up to your laptop before it crashes.

Restarted the VMS, and the problem went away.
