I had a power failure. When power was restored it wiped out my touch tones. How do I program tones ?

What is touch tones? What do they do? What tone are you talking about?

A tone when you press a number on the key pad as compared to digit-pulse.

It's under Lines, change per line, from Pulse to Tone.

Assuming that you're talking about a Norstar system, you probably lost a lot more than just your touch tone programming on your lines (which can be found in system programming under lines). I'll be surprised if it held ANY programming at all so you may actually need a technician to come out and reprogram the entire system. Of course, the same thing will probably happen again the next time you have a power failure. A battery back up unit would certainly help but the real solution is to either have the system properly bench tested and repaired or replace it all together. Do you know which Norstar you have and what software version it is? If it's not a Compact or a Modular ICS system, chances are it's already long overdue for replacement anyway.

I Agree with phonehed If you lost the DTMF output you probably lost the rest since when the older 6X16 and 8X24 program hold capacitors fail your programming defaults and pulse is the default.

you can verify that by looking at the date/time on the system, pull power and wait a few minutes then power back on and see if the date defaults back in the 80's or 90's somewhere.

It's rare, but I have seen systems lose partial programming. Any time I get a call for lost programming, though, I usually plan for a full day of button punching.
