Ok, you guys are going to have to forgive me a bit as I'm relaying this third party-

I have a customer that is trying to integrate a small VoIP switch to function at a remote site off of a Meridian Opt 81c. In order for the connecting PRI to function, we've had to go in and "disable" pkg 334 as you are unable to configure it properly (ie as a tie) with that package enabled as it forces the call by call type.

I'm getting conflicting information from my vendor, stating that if we do a software change to remove package 334, that it will kill the whole PRI functionality (which is false based on the fact that we have that package currently disabled and the PRI is still functional).

What I'm looking for is what I'm missing? Is it in fact possible to permanently remove package 334 (this customer is not currently running PRI to a CO) and retain the PRI interface, or do I need to look at adding a different package to the Meridian all together, effectively having functionality for both PRI TIE and PRI CBC?

Thx-

NG

What is package 334. I am looking at a switch now and I don't have a package 334 and I have PRI TIE lines programmed.

what type of remote switch? and your trying to tie to it using tdm? i have 8 non pri t1's cbc, package 334 and 12 tie pri's .. the best (only?) way to tie to switches together with almost zero headache is qsig.. if your meridian is rls 3 or above, the packages are turned on by default.. i don;t care for cdc, it was the answer to a question no one ever asked

JP- the switch we're trying to tie in to is a Shoretel switch. We are setup on the PRI as TDM. The issue we're having is that the 334 package won't let us build it this way without being disabled, as it seems to be forcing CBC when the loop is configured as TIE instead of DID.

Essentially the Meridian is handling all calls to and from the Shoretel. With the 334 pkg disabled, it works perfectly as TIE/TDM. As I stated, we have a quick fix in place that has them working at the moment, however I'm being told that removing pkg 334 permanently will strip the switch of PRI capabilities (which doesn't make sense as it's working now with it disabled).
