Meridian 1 switch tone and line tests?

I'm 100% new to the M-1 and the guys who were here before me seem to have left just about nothing set up for me. I've been working on a MSL-100 for about 2 1/2 years now and i have a few questions that i can't find the answers for. I have looked thought the commercial manuals for a bit looking for means of testing CA/PR's with the M-1 and using tone generated from the switch. I was wondering if these are even a possibilty with this system. If anybody has a clue please let me know because i am lost.....

you can build a test tone, dial up type in a merridian, that said, i don't know any pbx that ever used the feature. i know outside plant techs use a test tone. if you have the 3 vol feature discription manuals, that is the best place to start, i am not at work today or i would give you the page. just curious, what the heck do you want a test tone in a pbx for..

Actualy where i am at right now we do both inside and outside plant, i am military at a deployed location and most of the cable on the base is wired so off that most of the time to tell how the hell the count is run we need tone from the switch on one of the pairs to get an idea of where on the 66 block pair on is on down.

and your going to use a dial up tone for that?.. hope the heck they give you guys protable tone generators, we used all slash wire way back when, then sent ring cycle down the wire, until we hit the right one.. i'll look up the dial up tone programing and post it for you... when i don't know the count of a block, i find a analog dial tone, call the frame, have them loc the tn in software or rake the frame. when i was in the field (usmc 68-74) i always made the last pair in all my binders hot, if you could find vil slate, you could call me.. i'll have access to the program info this pm...sorry i don't keep up with zulu time anymore

John you been working on nortel to long, Rolm had test tone that you could dial up with feature codes

so does nortel, just a pain to program, rolm was just assign an ext and take the defaults, but your right i've just been working to long

I'M not talking about a dial up tone, what i am talking about is if i was still using a MSL-100. I would be able to go to the ltpaux(mapci;mtc;lns;ltp;ltpaux) level and use the command "tonegen" i was wondering if this is a ability of the M-1 and also some of the other command is there that are usefull like lntst.

no, this does not have that feature. you'll need to put the tone on from the frame. the sl1 was not designed as an osp switch, so some of the things on the msl did not carry through
