I have a possible conflict between ARCserve version 9 (build 2040) and Server 2003 with SP1. MERGEcat.exe being blocked by DEP (Data Execution Prevention) on a Windows 2003 Server with SP1 installed on it. There are records of information not being written back to the database.

I received the following on a popup.

Data Execution Prevention – Microsoft Windows.

To help protect your computer, windows has closed this program

on the boot.ini
add the /NoExecute as seen below..
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=AlwaysOff
