Merge replication problem

I recently attempted to publish an SQL 7.0 database for merge replication. Unfortunately, when I was at the point where articles are chosen, there were little red clocks where the checkboxes should have been. I was unable to choose any fields to publish so of course I cancelled and tried the other publications. Snapshot, and Transaction worked just fine. It seems to only have the problem when I try to merge. If anyone knows what this is about, I would appreciate any help.

FYI, I found out why it was not letting me publish for a merge replication. Supposedly the database was set up for replication before (I'm not sure if it was just transaction or if it was also merge). Unfortunately, when they stopped it from being published the Enterprise Manager doesn't clean up the databases. It still had replication tables, and the user tables still had a 'msrepl_synctran_ts' column. So, once I cleaned up the old tables, it seems to work ok now. Go SQL.
